Competitive Fitness
I started going to a gym about a week and a half ago called Competitive Fitness. It is in Chandler and it has a unique approach to helping you get in shape.
Every membership comes with personal training. The gym isn’t filled with a bunch of machines like your typical gym because the idea isn’t that you go in for a bit and work out by yourself. Instead, there is one workout a day that everybody does, and then they write your time or weight on a whiteboard. This creates an awesome community feel to it since everyone is doing the same thing. It is also tremendously encouraging since there is always someone to walk you through the excercises and encourage you along the way. Most workouts can be done in about 15 minutes or less. They use a system called Crossfit (think P90x in shorter time).
So far I feel great and I feel overall much more healthy and strong. If you are looking for something to help you get in shape, definitely check them out.

I’m really impressed with their whole philosophy. Actually I think it’s pretty genuis and innovative! I think they’re definitely on to something!! I like how the personal training is all inclusive in the membership. In my mind, that’s the one critical component that’s missing in most gyms unfortunately. With most gyms, you get your membership and that’s it…you’re completely on your own. Personal training is an additional cost on top of monthly membership fees. And for many people, that’s totally out of their budget. Plus it’s so true most people really are motivated to go to the gym, but unless they know what to do or have some one there to help and encourage them, they don’t get the most out of their time, don’t see results and then get de-motivated and discouraged. Thanks for sharing, Jeremy and keep it uP!!

Jeremy,
I wouldn’t agree more! Crossfit is a super intense workout and definitely works. This style of training has been around for quite some time, but I really like how they package things as they do. Training in this style is both very intense and highly metabolic. Your body will respond in such a way that it will give you the physical adaptations to continually improve with consistency.
My own training program is the exact same way, and as we discussed, involves kettlebells and bodyweight movements that really brings an awesome overall fitness experience. If we do not enjoy what we do then we aren’t gonna do it. People need something to entertain them by making it both fun and interesting at the same time so that they stick with it. Then they tell their friends about their experience. As long as you keep working hard the results will speak for themselves. As they say, the proof is in the pudding- just don’t eat too much of that pudding.
