Save Your Money!
I don’t normally do this, but I feel like I need to do all my readers a favor and STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to save your money and AVOID seeing the movie The Spirit. Let’s just say four of us went and four of us wanted our money back when we were done. It has no plot, no character development, and was the most boring experience I have had in quite a while. With movies as expensive as they are now, this can be pretty frustrating.

Ha! I heard that on the news, but thanks for the heads up.
Didn’t you check out the reviews first?! I think a lot of peeps were expecting a “Sin City” feel, but apparently that was far from what they got. I seriously had high hopes for this film especially with such a talented cast and Frank Miller as writer, but after reading the reviews (first), I decided to hold back. You’re so right, movies are just too expensive to blow hard earned cash on duds. I’m sorry you had this experience. I had to laugh at one person’s review about this film…”My advice is save the 103 mins of your life and avoid this movie, take the time and clean the cat box or pull out the pooper-scooper and clean up after your dog.” I guess that says it all.
Well, now we are even for “Last Legion” since you picked this one out
In the future it’s all about the $5 Friday morning.

The problem with reading reviews about a movie is that you have to PLAN AHEAD. That is something we didn’t have time for, it was a spur of the moment decision to see this movie. Thus, our fate was sealed…
add to that list “the curious case of benjamin button,” which elizabeth and i chose to see christmas day. 3 hours and so boring!
Not necessarily, Jeremy… I’ve been known to call unsuspecting friends, family, and neighbors to have them quickly check online movie reviews for me. Let me tell you it’s saved me from many a movie disaster! Unfortunately I was not spared from “Aeon Flux” with Charlize Theron…oh my gosh, that was utter misery!! And all I kept thinking was “why, oh why did anyone bother to make this film?!” I just kept thinking how many kids that budget could have fed.) In anycase, I still feel for you guys.
And Jason…for some, that was 3 hours of ecstasy with Brad Pitt (myself not included in that mix.)
ha ha. sorry that you had to waist tour money on that. Maybe the next movie will make up for it.
I think you went to easy on this film. If anyone cares for a more descript reasoning as to why your life could be made better by not seeing this movie, feel free to read my review of it. http://www.aimeeandmitch.com/Brink/Journal/Entries/2008/12/28_The_Spirit.html
jeremy, allow me to introduce you to http://www.rottentomatoes.com
it’s a great resource for avoiding total movie duds. The Spirit got an 15% out of 100, just for an example. anything above a 60% is typically safe.
