The Blogfather

I just finished reading Blog: Understanding the Information Reformation That’s Changing Your World, by Hugh Hewitt. He is considered by many to be a “blogfather,” a term for a person who inspires others to blog. Although I’ve been blogging for awhile now, I was motivated even more by his book in my blogging aspirations. If you currently blog, or are considering it, then I would highly recommend this to you. One of the intriguing parallels he makes in the book is the current change that blogging is having in our culture compared with what happened with the invention of the printing press and Martin Luther. Basically, culture is shifting because the control of information is becoming more and more decentralized. In his conclusion he hits on a point that I want to address:
“The key to keep in mind is that trust drives everything. To build and maintain trust is a tremendously difficult thing, requiring patient attention to detail and discipline over long periods of time.”
And so, if you are reading this, I want to thank you for your trust. I have tried hard to blog about content that would interest most people and would also allow myself an outlet for public reflection as I learn from the community around me as well. It has been fun so far and I hope to keep improving as we go. I am always very appreciative of comments that you all leave. Thanks for reading!
