2022 Reading List – 3/4

2022 Reading List – 3/4

The weather is finally cooling down! Fall is in the air!

Sorry, but I really like this time of year. The holidays are upon us and those of us who live in Arizona can go back outside. Here’s a check-in on my reading list so far this year. My goal is one hundred books and I’m currently not on pace to hit that so we’ll see how the next few months go.

Here are the books I’ve read since January of 2022 with my rating for them (5 being the best) along with a brief review. Any book without a number rating has been given to me by the author or publisher.

2022 Reading List – 2/4

I’m currently driving home after five weeks in Oregon. That means my kids will be starting back at school in a few weeks and we are about halfway through the year. It’s a good time to check in on this year’s reading list and share my thoughts so far.

My 63 books from 2012

cross-roads 77840 0334005035-01-_sx140_sy225_sclzzzzzzz_ unbroken-cover_custom-s6-c10

Last year I set a new personal record for the number of books I was able to read with sixty-three. This was almost double my previous record of thirty-nine. As a result, I had more 5 star reviews than I normally do. My top books of the year were:

Unbroken, Mere Christianity, Who Is this Man?, The Myth of a Christian Nation, God Of the Possible, and Cross Roads

I also had more least favorite books this year as well. They included:

The Tiger’s Wife, Gathering Blue, Messenger, The Way of the Lord, and the Explicit Gospel

Below is the entire list from 2012 with my rating for them (5 being the best) and a brief review. You can also check out my lists from previous years as well as my first book, Crowdsourcing the Message, that I released in April of 2012. I keep this as a running list year-round and you can access it by clicking the “reading list” link on the top right of each page on my blog.

Holli’s Hits – Always Be My Baby

Here’s my friend Holli singing the song “Always Be My Baby” from her favorite artist, Mariah Carey. This one really displays her “range.” Click the link below to enjoy.

3rd Annual Pumpkin Carving Party

Our small group hosted our 3rd annual pumpkin carving party to connect with new people. We invite our neighbors, friends, and coworkers with the entire goal to hang out so we can create and build new friendships. It was great to see a bunch of the neighborhood turn out as well as a ton of new people, and repeaters from the last two years as well!

Here are some of the photos of the night:

Michelle with our little pumpkin.

Feeding the pumpkin. He will probably look back on these pictures later and be very angry with me.

Laci modeling her slimy pumpkin hands.

Developing the next generation of pumpkin carvers. This is Melissa and Patrick’s son.

Pumpkin guts.

Surprisingly, this sign actually worked.

The effects of sugar on kids.

Hard at work.

Holli looks a little scary with that knife…

Of course there was food involved.

Pumpkins make people do crazy things. I have no words for this Sara.

The finished products.

Late Night with Nate

Since you guys have enjoyed Holli’s songs so much with my friend Holli belting her favorite songs in the car, I have found a new segment to add to the blog. My friend Nate apparently likes to dance when nobody else is around and record it on his phone. And boy does he have some moves! So check out our newest music section on the blog and watch the video below.
