Machines and Love

Since I’m the lead pastor of our Third Format (read edgy, alternative, postmodern, emerging, or whatever your favorite word is for this category) service at Central I figured that I should read some of the mainstream “postmodern” books. One of those has been Shane Claiborne’s Irresistible Revolution. The book is extrememly challenging toward living out our Christianity (so much so that you almost don’t know what to do with what he is saying) and some of his ideas have been extremely thought provoking. I read a quote today that isn’t necessarily the most theologically deep quote I’ve ever read but it is pretty interesting nonetheless. And I guess I just like it for some reason. So I’m sharing it with you to enjoy as well.
“We live in an age when machines act like people, and people act like machines. But machines cannot love.”
