Where Do You Find Strength?
I recently read about a time in the Bible where King David (before he is king) has everything valuable stolen from him and his men. They lose their wives, their children, and all their possessions to another raiding party while they are away. When they return to see the loss it describes it like this:
“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6His back is up against the wall big time. David has his own family taken and in addition his men turn on him and are so overwhelmed by this that they talk of killing him over it. Suffice it to say that his leadership is majorly in question here. How would you respond? I would probably go for a walk… and cry… and throw stuff… and say some nasty things to God about the recent events. But David found strength in the Lord his God. It’s the week of Easter and my job is currently in overdrive. To my knowledge I’m not in danger of any mutiny from my team but we certainly are feeling the collective pressure. I can respond in a number of ways. This is my acknowledgment that I’m choosing to find strength in God. What about you? What do you have going on that is overwhelming and what will be your response?
